To care for cut hydrangeas, use a vase filled three-quarters with clean, room temperature water and flower food. Trim stems at an angle and remove submerged leaves. Mist the petals daily and keep them in a cool, shaded area, away from direct sunlight. Don’t forget to replace the water every 2 to 3 days and give them a new trim each time.

Hydrangeas often appear wilted even after a fresh cut. When this happens, revive them by submerging the entire bunch in cold water for 5-10 minutes. Hydrangeas draw water not just from the stem’s base but also through their petals. To extend their lifespan, pour an inch of boiling water in a separate vase. Put the stems in there until the steam dissipates. Remember not to overcrowd them and leave room for the steam to escape. Once the steam is gone, remember to recut the stems and you can arrange them however you like. This helps prevent sap blockages in the stems that cause wilting.
